Experience Days Kayaking: Experience the natural pleasures of man power and make a splash! With 2 hours of expert tuition from a BCU trained instructor, you can practice the basic skills behind the wonderfully active sport of kayaking - and maybe even a little more. Once in the water and making waves on your class, your instructor will take you along the River Leam - highlighting the beauty of the Victoria Gardens from your own personal kayak. Kayaking has a lot going for it. Not only is it relatively inexpensive, but it's a true 'back-to-nature' activity - just you and your craft on the water, with nothing to distract you but whichever beautiful landscape you choose to surround yourself with. There's no need for fuel (apart form a good breakfast, of course!), there's no noise from engines, and it can be supremely chilled out or extremely amped up, depending on your skills and mood. Following registration at the boat centre you will meet your instructor. They will then fit you with your equipment including buoyancy aid; cag (waterproof top) boat and paddle. The Kayaks are very stable and designed for tuition so you are unlikely to roll over unless you try hard! A full safety briefing and explanation in the use of the equipment is provided before going onto the water. The session will take place on a calm stretch of the River Leam. You will taught how to control the boat so you can enjoy a river trip up though the Victorian Gardens and into the nature reserve. Once you have mastered the basics you might even get to put them to the test with a game or two! Great fun, great exercise - a wonderful afternoon in the great outdoors learning something new!
