This full day Brewery Experience allows you get behind the scenes at one of Poole’s top brewery pubs, to learn all about the brewing process, and even get fully involved in it yourself! Find out what happens in the brewing process from, barley to barrell, at the Poole Brewhouse and Kitchen. Your day starts with a drink. No, not a pint - it’s 10am for goodness sake! Over a tea or coffee, you’ll have a quick introduction to the brewery, the pub and the day ahead. But there’s not too much talking - you have brewing to do and soon it’s time to get to the mash tun to start the first part of the brewing journey - mashing in. Don’t know what that means? Well you’ll learn! (Spoiler alert - it’s mixing the milled grain with water and heating it). You’ll also learn about transferring, re-circing and sparging, as well as ‘the boil’, and the purpose of adding hops and kettle finings to the mix. The professional brewers who run the experience really know their stuff, and they’ll explain each step of the process to you, including telling you all about the chemical processes that go on inside the machines so you’ll gain a real understanding of the whole process. It's thirsty work, so fear not - throughout the day, you'll get the chance to taste a whole range of unique Brewhouse and Kitchen craft beers, with advice and information from your expert. Of course with all this hard work and learning, you’ll also get hungry, so included in the day is a bacon butty in the morning, as well as a tasty lunch in the pub (accompanied by a beer - it’s definitely beer o’clock by lunchtime!). Once the beer is in the fermenter, and you are thinking about heading home (with a slightly fuzzy head) you will receive a certificate and the choice of either taking a 5L mini-keg of your favourite Brewhouse beer (valued at £25), or returning 2 weeks later to pick up a mini-keg of your own brew!
